Tate Murder Spree On July 25, 1969, Manson ordered Mary Brunner, along with Family members Bobby Beausoleil and Susan Atkins, to the house of Manson's acquaintance, Gary Hinman, to force him to hand over $21,000 he had inherited. The Family held him hostage in his home for two days before Manson arrived and gave the order to murder him. They drew Black Panther slogans and signs on the walls in blood to implicate the group in the murder.
