Nancy Wake, nicknamed "The White Mouse," served as a British agent during the latter part of World War II. One of the Allies' most decorated servicewomen of the war. A quote of hers about the inaccuracies of the TV movie about her: "For goodness' sake, did the allies parachute me into France to fry eggs and bacon for the men?...There wasn’t an egg to be had for love nor money, and even if there had been, why would I be frying it when I had men to do that sort of thing?"

The first probable instance of the name "Israel" in the archeological record, found on The Merneptah Stele, a black granite slab, 10 ft high, with an inscription of the Ancient Egyptian king Merneptah (1213 to 1203 BCE). The text is largely an account of his victory over the Libyans and their allies, but the last few lines deal with a separate campaign in Canaan, then part of Egypt's imperial possessions, Discovered at Thebes, now housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

More's enemies had enough evidence to have the King arrest him on treason. Henry had More imprisoned in the Tower of London. After the jury's verdict was delivered and before his sentencing, More spoke freely of his belief that "no temporal man may be the head of the spirituality". He was sentenced to be hanged, drawn, and quartered (the usual punishment for traitors who were not the nobility), but the King commuted this to execution by decapitation. The execution took place on 6 July 1535.
