Patricia Hearst (1954-) was an heir to the Hearst newspaper empire when she was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army in 1974. She is seen here taking part in a bank robbery with her captors. Hearst announced she had joined the SLA and taken a new name, Tania. She was arrested 19 months after her kidnapping and served almost two years in prison before President Jimmy Carter commuted her sentence. She married her former bodyguard, Bernard Shaw, after her release.
