10 Feb 42: Suggested by FDR, Congress imposes Daylight Saving Time, also called War Time, in an effort to conserve fuel by reducing the need to use artificial lighting. Time zones were relabeled Eastern War Time, Central War Time, etc, and was in effect year-round with no "spring forward, fall back." After the surrender of Japan, time zones were relabeled Peace Time until 30 Sep 45, when it was ended. Daylight Savings Time has always been both praised and criticized. #WWII #History
