Blackjack was the caparisoned/riderless horse in John F. Kennedy's funeral. He served in the U.S. Infantry in that capacity for 24 years at Arlington National Cemetery, participating in the funerals of President Kennedy, President Herbert Hoover, President Lyndon Johnson, and General Douglas MacArthur, among others. When Blackjack died in 1973, he was buried at Arlington Cemetery, where this gravestone marks his grave.
