Margaret Rudkin (1897-1967) - Started baking ground bread in her home for her son, to help his asthma. She began selling the bread in town, and a large baking operation flourished in her home. Once that grew to be too large for town zoning to permit, she moved the bakery to a factory. Pepperidge Farm would eventually grow into a huge brand name.
