Lady Jane Grey, the ill-fated Nine Day Queen. On the 10th of July,1553, Lady Jane was proclaimed Queen by Dudley and his supporters. On the same day, Mary Tudor's letter to the privy council with orders to proclaim her Edward's successor arrived in London. By 12th July, Mary had assembled a military force at Framlngham Castle, Suffolk. Dudley's support collapsed and Mary's grew. Jane was deposed on 19th July and imprisoned in the Tower of London.
