Susan Hibbert, who died on February 2, 2009 at the age of 84, is believed to have been the last British witness to the signing of the German surrender in May 1945, a document which she personally typed up. She typed the English version of the German unconditional surrender document, then messaged London when the war in Europe ended on May 7, 1945 with the following words: “The mission of this Allied Force was fulfilled at 0241, local time, May 7th, 1945.”
