A 220-year-old time capsule containing coins, documents and other artifacts left by Revolutionary War figures like Samuel Adams and Paul Revere was opened by Massachusetts officials on 01-06-15. Conservator Pam Hatchfield holds an engraved silver plate. The unveiling marked the first time its contents have been seen publicly since 1855, when it was also removed from the cornerstone, the items inside cleaned, and other items like newspapers and coins added.
